Figure 343 shows the works of one form of safe-lock, used by the Damon Safe and Lock Works; and thoughthis is a cheap lock, it embodies all the essential principles ofevery combination lock. This lock is susceptible of 755,000different combinations, but some bank-locks afford as many as134,000,000 changes. There is absolutely no way to pick such a lock as this,except by ringing the changes, that is to say, by makingsuccessively all the possible combinations, until the right one isfound. Combination locks cost from five dollars for the cheapestkind, to several hundred dollars for the most perfect styles oftime locks. MISCELLANEOUS LOCKS.
