Very fine ex-amples of these porches are found in Norfolk, Somerset*shire, Devonshire, and 158. Bicester, Oxfordshire, c. 1420. In later examples we find ornament used to suchan excess as completely to overpower the features ofa building; no large space is left on which the eye canrest, but every portion is occupied with panelling orother ornament. An example of this may be seen inthe exterior of Henry the Sevenths Chapel, which hasmore the appearance of a piece of wood-carving than ofa building of stone; but in the interior of the samebuilding this very richness has a wonderfully fine efi^ light and elegant style of vaulting known as fan-tracery (159), which is peculiar to this style, with its PERPENDICULAR MOULDINGS, 205 delicate pendants and lace-like ornaments, harmonizesfinely with the elaborate ornament of the tabernacle-work below.
