Night sky over Meili Snow Mountains, China. Constellations and stars in the winter night sky over the snow-covered moonlit peaks of the Meili Snow Mountains near the borders of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces in China. The constellation of Orion is near centre. These mountains rise to an elevation of over 6000 metres. The highest peak is Kawagarbo (6740 metres), below the Hyades star cluster at far right. Kawagarbo is regarded as one of the most sacred peaks in the Tibetan world. Photographed on 25 December 2013.
