There is now in course of construction the NorthWisconsin running from St. Paul and Hudson northtoward Cbequamegon Bay, and the extension of theNorthern Pacific from Duluth east. Penoka Iron Range is a fine undeveloped vein ofiron ore. It runs east and west across the county,through Townships 44 and 45. It is about twentymiles in length. The range has been explored byeminent geologists and experts, and valuable veins ofiron and copper discovered. Samples taken at randomhave yielded 62^ per cent, of iron. The facilities formanufacturing are excellent. The immense forests ofhard maples on and about the range will furnish thenecessary charcoal for smelting. It is within easyaccess. Lake Superio
