Royal Air Force 1939-1945- Coastal Command This well-worn Sunderland III, W4004/Z of No 10 Squadron RAAF, has just been winched out of the water in preparation for an overhaul at Mount Batten, January 1943. The aircraft fell victim to the Luftwaffe on 17 May, when it was shot down by a Ju88C of V/KG 40 over the Bay of Biscay. Its crew of 12, led by Flight Lieutenant M K Kenzie, were all lost.
