Hand-books: Bennetts and Robys Grammars. 2. Roman History. A year is given to the history ofthe Roman people during the Kingdom and Republic, dwell-ing especially on the development of the Roman constitution,political institutions, and territorial acquisition. No credit. OHIO UNIVERSITY. 25 is given in this course unless the whole work is done. Booksfor study and reference: Epochs of Ancient History; Lan-cianis Ancient Rome in the Light of Recent Excavations;The Great Captains — Hannibal — by Dodge; Duruys andMommsens Histories of Rome; Longs Decline of the RomanRepublic; and Labbertons Historical Atlas. 3. Classes may be organized to read The Vulgate, TheHymns of the Church, and The Latin Church Fathers. MATHEMATICS AND ASTRONOMY Professor by One or More Instructors. The course in pure mathematics embraces ten terms, dis-tributed as follows: Algebra, four terms; Geometry, twoterms; Trigonometry and Surveying, two terms; AnalyticGeometry, one term; Calculus, one term. Of these, fourterms, including Algebra to Series and Plane Geometry, arerequired for admission into the Freshman class; the remain-ing six terms are included in the College Department, cover-ing the Freshman and Sophomore years.
