This is the largest species of moray eels known and can reach a total weight of 30 kg and 3 m in length. The Giant moray can be found in tropical seas, such as Indo-Pacific region, Red Sea, around Hawaii, hiding in crevices during the day and hunting for other fishes at night, sometimes associated with grouper. The coloration varies within live time, whereby young moray have a stronger coloration and larger black spots than adults. Their pattern tends to look more leopard like when older.
