The company owned the first steam sugar refinery to the Lijnbaansgracht in Amsterdam. On January 8, 1834 they were caught using a balance sheet of which an arm was extended. On the left the fake balance hanging on the façade of the factory. Two men are weighed on the steam balance, here are several people. In the background De Bruyn fled from the fair to a house on the Rokin.
