Velvet soldierbush (Heliotropium foertherianum), stump; large silvery-leafed shrub that grows on the outer edge of the upper beach of tropical islands. Its wood is used in Polynesia for frames for swimming goggles. It is also used widely in the Pacific Islands to treat ciguatera fish poisoning. Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia
