The greater branch,through which the Panjtarni torrent flows, runs south-east; the otheris a short, steep gorge, which leads to the pass and carries on the generaltrend of the Sind valley towards the east. Both are deep gorges withprecipitous sides much broken up by landslides. In the angle formedby the meeting-place of the Panjtarni torrent with the stream that comesdown from the Zoji La. is a small plateau with a grove of sycamores,birches, poplar and willow trees, mingled with several sorts of NEAR BALTAL.
