Alternative kinds are given, but the first named should be used whenever it can be secured: Various-leaved Fescue, or Red Fescue Creeping Bent, or Rhode Island Bent Kentucky Blue Grass If the true Wood Meadow grass {Poa nemoralis) can be obtained it can be substituted for both the Bent and Fescue grasses. In a very densely shaded place it is sometimes impossible to get a good stand of any permanent grasses. In such a case Italian Rye grass can be sown each Spring and a new and practical lawn made each year.
