The Infamous Kea Parrot of New Zealand

The infamously cheeky Kea is endemic to the South Island of New Zealand and is the worlds only alpine parrot. A large parrot belonging to the Nestoridae family, it has green plumage and orange feathers on its underside. This colourful bird is known for its intelligence and curiosity, they have been observed solving puzzles and terrorising tourists. I captured this inquisitive creature high up on Arthur's Pass as we made our way across the snowy peaks of the Southern Alps. He was hypnotising us with those beautifully yellow-ringed eyes whilst his comrades planned an attack on our lunch.
