IVesh water is conveyed into theclassifier by means of the tap (/) and this, by keeping the level ofthe water higher in the outer casing (/>), causes a constant upward streamof water to flow through the slot (c), checking the tendency of the mineralparticles to deposit themselves, and separating them into several plans are drawn to scale, so that where the dimensions are notgiven they may readily be obtained. The classifier is elevated upen a brick foundation (r) which is dividedinto small reservoirs or cases, which received the slimes which fall fromthe pipes (e) when they are opened for cleansing \\m^^\^^\^w\\\^^^^^^^ Fig. 194.—Cross Section of Hydraulic Classifier. :<v^ A The jiggers which treat the classified mineral may either be quitenear, as shown in figs. 194 and 195, or at any convenient distanceprovided that there is fall enough to convey the rich thick slime throughthe pipe (//). In the cross-section (fig. 194) / is the jigger, fixed on a concrete bed,in which the receiving case (o) is formed for the reception of the enrichedproducts. The excess water flows away by the channel (/). The disc (/)is fixed on the driving shaft, and carries a crank pin, whose stroke maybe varied according to its position in the slot on the face of the disc. A short connecting rod is placed between the crank pin and thelever {///) which causes the pulsation of the piston shaft, and throughit and the piston rod operates the piston (j). The effect of this system of lever
