It is approximatelyspherical, though somewhat irregular in shape. It fluctuates freely throughout and the fluid seems very close to theexamining fingers. There is no tender-ness, unless complicated by inflammationor neuritis or other painful affection. It is fixed, as a rule, but not peritoneal layers of the broad liga-ment stretch sufficiently to permit con-siderable movement in some cases, especi-ally later, when the cyst has gotten so largethat it rises out of the pelvis. The uterusis displaced to the opposite side, and thecyst is attached to it and to the pelvicwall, but not intimately as a rule.
