220917-N-PL946-1263 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 17, 2022) Capt. Derek Fix, chief of staff, Carrier Strike Group 12 (CSG 12) releases the cremated remains of a family member during a burial at sea ceremony on board the first-in-class aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78). During the ceremony, the cremated remains of 30 souls were committed to the sea in the Atlantic Ocean. Ford is underway in the Atlantic Ocean conducting carrier qualifications and workups for a scheduled deployment this fall.
