Louis Knecht was one year old when hisparents moved to Ohio, and was six years oldwhen they settled permanently in Bay Countyin 1855. Mr. Knecht has been on his presentfarm for the past 33 years. When he took hisportion of the estate from his father, it wastotally unimproved and the handsome andcommodious dwelling and the substantial barnsand all other excellent improvements have beenput here by Mr. Knecht himself. In 1875 ^^^- Knecht was married to Elea-nor Conoly, who was born December 20, 1852,at Chatham, Ontario, and they ha\-e seven chil-dren: Casper W., of Bay City; John J., ofSouth Bay City; William, Jr.; Louis C.; AsaF.; Emanuel and Ansel M. Politically Mr. Knecht is a stanch Demo-crat. He is a leading member of the HungerPresbyterian Church and one of the board offive trustees.
