Pectoral with 8 rays. Pelvic 7; origin equidistant from tip of lower jaw and posterior part of anal. Lower series of photophores consisting of g in front of pectoral, 12 or 13 from pectoral to pelvic, 7 or 8 from pelvic to origin of anal, and 20 or 21 from anal to base of caudal; there are 19 or 20 photophores in the upper series. The above specimens differ in several respects from the description of Goode and Bean, but in view of their small size I have followed Jespersen and Taning in identifying them with that species.
