He has throughout his lifebeen an active and responsible member and trusteein Christian churches of the Congregational denom-ination, and active in both church and Sunday-schoolwork. He was first associated with the Northchurch. New Haven, Conn., and afterward with theCentre church in the same city, and since 1857 withthe South Congregational church, Brooklyn, N. Y.,of whose board of trustees he has for many yearsbeen president, trusted and loved by his is a in the South Brooklyn savings insti-tution, a!hd is a member of the chamber of York city.
