Madonna and Child, 15th-16th century. Mary, with her hands in a gesture of prayer, gazes down on the infant Jesus who holds up his hand towards her. Two cherubs observe the scene and hands hold a crown above Mary, symbolising her status as Queen of Heaven. At centre right are Madonna lilies (Lilium candidum).
