His maternalgrandfather and great grandfather were bothborn in Conneautville. Mr. Tyler was reareda farmer and enlisted when he was 19 yearsold, Aug. 17, 1861, in Company H, 83rd Penn-sylvania Infantry at Conneautville for threeyears. The regiment was assigned to the Armyof the Potomac and went to Yorkville wherethe command participated in the siege andwent afterwards to Gaines Mills. Mr. Tylerwas in both actions and fought at Hanover He was injured while on picket in thevalley of the Ciiickahominy, while assisting adetail to carry a boat, which, falling on him,produced contusion of the back. (The com-mand to which he was assigned was in Portersdivision in the army of McCiellan.) He was. taken to the hospital at Harrisons Landing andthence to Philadelphia, where he remained ina hospital until discharged. He was releasedfrom military ser-vdce Oct. 15, 1862, and re-turned to his home. He came to Wisconsin inNovember, 1863, and, since the war, has oper-ated as a carpenter and builder. He was mar-ried April 12, 1866, to Emma C. Miller andthev have two children—Charles J., born ,^1867, and Edna, born May 13, 1871. Themother was born in Depere. Mr. Tyler hasthree brothers and a sister. Jonathan M. en-listed in the lllth Penns^dvauia Infantry. Theothers are named William H. and Charles married W. 0.
