Gu. a chev. erm. betiv. three eagles,1 close, arg. for Childe. 1 This Brass, when Mr. Eyre published his Guide, had been removed intothe sanctuary with the blue marble slab above described, but when it wasdetermined, a few years ago, to pave the sanctuary with tiles the Brass wastaken up for its preservation, but a portion only of the inscription was pre-served. The Brass was set up at the back of the middle seat of the sedilia,and the two small scrolls were set in the spandrils of the arch above. - Stretton was formerly, though itself a Rectory, a Chapelry of Blockley,and had no right of burial. 3 In this year Easter fell on 13th April. The above-mentioned monument was piously erected by WilliamChilde, son and heir of William Childe, Esq., deceased in are several monuments with the same type of inscriptions,1 to other members of the Childe family.
