A holy water stoup of c 1400 just inside the S door of St Endelienta's Church, St Endellion, Cornwall, England, UK. Carved in black Catacleuse stone from Harlyn Bay by the 'Master of St Endellion' who also created St Endelient's shrine at the E end of the S aisle (Chenduit's aisle). The holy water basin is decorated with the arms (crests) of three Cornish families who were patrons of the church: Chenduit (or Cheney) & Pentire above, Roscarrock below. The holy water, blessed by a priest or deacon, is used to make the sign of the cross on entering the church.
