Under the bonnet of a Henry Milnes 13 inch swing gap bed lathe showing the clutch assembly unit with direction selector and general picture of gears.

The gearbox assembly of a Henry Milnes late fifties quality lathe made in Bradford England, showing the clutch assembly with its copper comression plates and oil feed pipework with some of the many gears inside the headstock of thiis superb example of British engineering, still going strong and just requiring a bit of TLC to the clutch which has worn to the point of having no adjustment remaining, easily removed and easily repaired with replacement inner washers of hardened steel. She should be goodd for another 30 plus years once clutch has been renovated.
