Byfleet Village Victorian Fire Station 1885

Following formation of the Byfleet Volunteer Fire Brigade by Sir John Whittaker Ellis of Petersham Place in 1871 he funded the Fire Station which was erected in 1885 (see plaque in image). Sir John Ellis was a former Lord Mayor of London. The station served the village until 1963.
