The Canadian National Vimy Memorial, France
The Canadian National Vimy Memorial is a symbol of remembrance and a tribute to all Canadians who served in the First World War. The park contains preserved tunnels and front line trenches. It also bears the names of 11,825 Canadians killed in France whose final resting place is unknown. The monument was designed by Walter Seymour Allward. It was dedicated in 1936 by King Edward VIII. It was designated as a World Heritage Site in 1996.
