During part of the war she was used as an army transport on account of her quantities of supplies were shijiped to the armies investing Petersburg, and the sight of these vessels gladdened the eyes ofmany a poor fellow in desperate need of what they l)rought, or waiting to be transported to the big hospitals or furloughcd home.
