Cape Town. Composite satellite image of Cape Town, South Africa. The city centre is at Table Bay (lower left), next to Table Mountain, a 1,086 metre high sandstone and granite landmark. At centre left is Theewaterskloof Dam, a large reservoir, which helps to provide the city with water. False Bay (right) is a large bay to the south of Cape Town, which is just along from Cape Agulhars (top right), the southern most point of Africa. This image was produced by combining topographic data from the Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM, Space Shuttle Endeavour, February 2000) with a colour-enhanced Landsat satellite image (June 2000).
