The second prize was won by Dulcie, also owned by Mr. Hastings. Dulcie, 5 years old, easily beat her record of last year by producing(i^\ lbs. of milk showing a butter fat test, equivalent to lbs. butterfat, or lbs. of commercial butter weekly. Like her herd mate, Pearl, she was bred by Mrs. Smith and sold at the high figure of^14, which was a record for Swan Hill, and considered ridiculous, butMr. Hastings has never regretted his bargain. On her first calf she gaveup to 50 lbs. of milk daily. Dulcie, a medium sized cow, of an even,quiet, and kind temper, with light bone, and carrying no surplus flesh, hadhad only 6 weeks spell before calving, and had been in milk 60 dayswhen tested.
