Hanson, the well known president of theilceker County Bank. Born at Xoldsjo,Sweden, in 1845, he came to Minnesota andsettled in Swede Grove Township, Meekercounty, in 1857. His father, Hans Peterson,was a farmer, who thoroughly understoodhis business, for he prospered and accumu-lated a large estate. His son, Peter E., wasbrought up as a farmers boy, receiving sim-ply a coniuKui school education, but earlydevelojjed a superior business capacity. Hebegan to deal in real estate, and in 1879 heopened an office in Lifchficld, the countyseat of Meeker coimiIv. wlieir, hv his nn- HISTORY OP TUE GREAT PETER E. HANSON. (jiiestioned integrity and fair dealing, he builtup a laige business, securing the largest cli-entele in the city and disposing of a verylarge amount of land. To this business headded that of banking, and in 1891 was madepresident of the Meeker County Bank, a po-sition which he yet holds, and where hishigh character for uprightness, sound judg-ment and uswerving probity is a tower ofstrength to the institution. As a young man—too young to enlist—Mr. Hanson took part in the Indian war of1802. He helped to guard the homes andto defend the fort at Forest City, Minn. Hehad the reputation of being the best shot inthe country and took part in two has always been a patriotic, public-spiritedcitizen, taking an active interest in publicaffairs, seiving as a member of the townboard and as chaimi
