A smaller Gull than the Herring with the prim-aries grayish instead of black: Length twenty-five inches. This Gull is foundin winter on the coast from British Columbia southward to Lower California,but nests in the interiar from Utah northward. They nest very abundantlyaround the Great Salt Lake, placing their nests generally upon the bare there is a scant lining of grasses or weeds and again the nests willbe situated in the midst of a tussock of grass. Three or four eggs generallyconstitute a set, inn occasionally five are laid. The usual nesting time is dur-ing May. They show the same great variations in color and markings com-mon to most of the Culls. Size X 54. Ring billed Gull. delarvarenis. Range.
