A hiker is contemplating the town of Champéry and the surrounding alps (french and swiss) while coming back from the lake of soi (lac de soi) in the swiss canton of Wallis (Valais), next to Val d'Illiez. Champéry is on of the entries to the "Portes du Soleil", one of Europe's largest ski resort (some ski lift can be seen on the top of some mountains) shared between Switzerland and France.
