"Nuns at Prayer" painted by Xavier Mellery (1845-1921), the Belgian Symbolist artist. He attended the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels from 1860 to 1867, and went on to win the Prix de Rome traveling to Italy where he studied paintings from the Renaissance.
