The weather has been extra fine for this time of the year, up till the night of November 23, when we had our first snow of the season. It is still cold and apparently winter is here. Business has been good, especially during the last week, which was unusually gay in a social way. There were a great many decorations for dinners, receptions, etc., and large quantities of mums, carna- tions and roses were used. The bulk of the mum crop is off and soon the roses and carnations will hold sway. Various Notes. Ben Kramer has been having consid- erable to do right along. His new loca- tion is quite an improvement over the old one. J. C. Elspermann will soon be cleaned up on mums. They sold unusually well this year. His carnations are better than ever, and his other stock of plants is good, too. Louis Fritsch says business has been good with him. His carnations are look- ing fine, with a good crop coming for Christmas. He looks for a big trade and expects to be short of flowers. Miss Nellie Goodge is improving in health and getting stronger. She had two good wedding jobs for November 25 and 26 and used a good many roses as well as other flowers. Julius Niednagel & Sons have a large crop of roses and carnations for their Thanksgiving trade. The Wm. Blackman Floral Co. re- ports a rush of funeral and decorative work. E. L. F. Greens Farms, Conn.—Contractor Thomas Forsyth, of Fairfield, is build- ing a greenhouse here, ninety feet long, for E. T. Bedford.
