RNLI volunteer Lifeguards practice rescue land-based first aid training & recovery on Ainsdale, Merseyside, beach at high tide. Surf lifesaving is a sport that simulates saving lives and is made up of different races – swimming, board paddling, & ski paddling. Simulated rescues are used to practise responding under different conditions.

Ainsdale Beach is one of the most popular on the coast and has been awarded a Quality Coast Award by Keep Britain Tidy. It is the only beach in the North West to have ever been awarded the international Blue Flag (in 2004 and 2006). The QCA award tells visitors that the standards of beach management are of the highest quality in the UK. Ainsdale Beach is now recognised as one of the premier beaches in the UK for extreme kite activities, with zones set aside for kite buggy and landboard use and kitesurfing taking place on the sea.
