Half to a teaspoonful of brandy in a little water or milk is the best stimulant when required, and as a tonic during convalescence Parish's Chemical Food and cod-liver-oil. Where there is considerable effusion in the chest cavity, tapping may be had recourse to as a dernier ressort; but at this stage the case is frequently past recovery.
