Lyme Regis harbour at low tide. The Cobb at Lyme Regis in West Dorset.
Lyme Regis is famous for "The Cobb", a harbour wall with a long history. Possibly its most well known literary reference is found in Jane Austen's novel Persuasion (1818). It also featured in the film The French Lieutenant's Woman, based on the 1969 novel by local writer John Fowles which was set around Lyme Regis.
