(Full Size.) a piece of brass rod the size you want it and drilla hole through it from end to end, the diameter ofwhich should be about half the diameter of therod. Next drill a plug hole for the plug through themiddle of the stop-cock body as shown in thecross section drawing at B in Fig. 45, ream it outto make it slightly conical, and drill a holethrough the body opposite the plug hole for a Fittings for Model Engines 113 screw. The plug, which is a conical piece ofbrass, must fit into the plug hole nicely and havea hole drilled through it as is also shown at a %6-inch hole in each end and threadthem. The next operation is to grind the plug to makeit fit the plug hole steamtight; to do this make agrinding paste of fine emery mixed with a fewdrops of sewing machine oil and thinned downwith kerosene. Rub the mixture on the conicaledge of the plug, then set the plug in the plughole and turn it around forth and back but dontpress too hard o
