Westbury, Wiltshire, UK. 17th September 2016. Final preparations are underway for the demolition of the iconic Westbury Cement Works Chimney. The landmark which is 400 ft (122 metres) tall and is nearly as tall as Salisbury Cathedral's spire has dominated the landscape since the early 1960's but is due for controlled demolition at 7 AM on Sunday 18th September. Considered an eye-sore by some local residents it will also be greatly missed by others who were fond of the unique structure in their countryside. Credit: Wayne Farrell/Alamy Live News

17th September 2016, Westbury, Wiltshire. The demolition is the final end to 40 years of industrial activity on the site which has been mothballed and operated under a skeleton staff since 2009. A special viewing platform has been erected on the White Horse hillside adjacent to the site. One lucky school girl named Lily Sargent was picked from a competition of 600 entrants for the honour of pressing the detonator button. Wayne Farrell/Alamy News
