Coolidge, AZ., , Jan. 30, 2018. Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in 1918. Mystery surrounds this unique circa 1350 4-story “caliche” brick building and surrounding structures including a complex farming irrigation system built by Sonoran Desert People. A circular hole in the upper west wall aligns with the setting Sun at the summer solstice. The sun appears to “stand still” twice a year on the Summer and Winter Solstices. The moon appears to stand still only once every years. All of these occurrences are marked with holes in the wall.
