As this material is very soft, it is easilydug out with pick and shovel, only occasional drilling and blasting beingnecessary. The marl is pulverized in a Williams Patent Crusher andPulverizer, which has a capacity of 2 tons per hour, and is operated bya small electric motor. This crusher is a very efficient machine as it doesnot become clogged when the material is slightly moist. The productis sacked at the quarry and hauled by team to Edenvale, from where itis shipped to the consumers.
