A fishing boat at anchor during a winter storm off Easdale in Argyll on Scotland's west coast. The new year was marked by several storms which lashed the British Isles, causing flooding, damage and loss of life. The tiny, car-free island of Easdale was reliant on its lifeline passenger ferry service to get people and goods on and off the island.
