Upper lip verj' thick, especially on the sides, and with a fold, but without fringes. The width of the interorbital space is two-fifths of the length of the head. The snout ])r()jucts beyond the mouth ; the prajorbital is strongly cmarginate anteriorly, and does not entirely cover the maxillary. The lower jaw has a very distinct notch at tlie symphysis, but scarcely any trace of a tubercle. The pectoral is a little longer than the head ; tlic posterior dorsal and the anal fins arc scaly; caudal emarginatc. A small blackish spot superiorly at the base of the pectoral. Ked tSea.
