Herd of Przewalski's horses walking across the steppes, Hustai National Park, Mongolia

After disappearing from the wild in the 1960s, the rare Przewalski's wild horse was reintroduced to the wild in 1992 after breeding from a few captive individuals that were descended from wild animals captured around 1900. The reintroduced animals can now been seen at Hustai National Park in Mongolia where they breed and again run free across the steppes, guarded from animal and human predation.
