Desert Botanical Garden - Plants & Sculpture - Jun Kaneko
The Desert Botanical Garden is a living museum of some 50,000 plants representing more than 4,000 species. They offer education, research, exhibition, and conservation of desert plants from around the world with emphasis on species from the Sonoran Desert — southern Arizona and south to Mexico. Near the entrance to the Wildflower Trail stood a huge two-part sculpture by Jun Kaneko, a Japanese artist who has created giant ceramic sculptures which were on display in the garden. In the past, I have photographed other artwork in the garden such as the glass sculpture of Dale Chihuly, paintings by Dyana Hesson, sculptures by Carolina Escobar, sculptures by Philip Haas, light sculptures by Bruce Monro and giant insects. It provides another reason to visit again and again.
