Amongst those taking part were George Hodson, JamesProe, and James Trickett, of Wigan ; and James Gardnerand Henry Anderton, of Billinge. When favourable theservices were held in the open air, and on one occasionwhen James Trickett was preaching he was peremptorilytold by the churchwarden of the parish to desist. Thepreacher, however, was able to produce his licence (acurious document to read to-day) to preach, granted by amagistrate, and the warden walked away exclaiming, withan oath, that all such persons ought to be put into a time a room was rented over a p
