Devon and Somerset Staghounds April 28th 1981. After the gralloch the body of this Spring stag is dragged away to be sliced up for meat. The child on the right is clutching a piece of the liver that he has been given by the Huntsman to take away for his tea. The slots (hooves) have been cut from the dead stag as was long before the Hunting Act 2004 that banned this pastime on grounds of cruelty.
