Detail of interior section in the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The mosque was designed by the Syrian Architect, Yousef Abdelky. The design brings in concepts from Persian, Mughal, Indo-Islamic and Alexandrian Mosque architecture. It was constructed from 1996 to 2007. Materials used include, Marble, Semi-precious stones for inlay work, Gold and Crystal. The carpet in the main prayer hall is considered to be the largest carpet in the world and was crafted in Iran. It is said to weigh 35 tons. The cost of construction of the Mosque was estimated to be US Dollars 545 Million at the time of completion. Photo shot in the ambient light; horizontal format.
