These move by means ofcountless little cilia, as they arecalled, instead of one or twolong lashes, and they go whirlingover and over as they swim, sothat their course is straight aheadin spite of their lopsided are so transparent that one can see muchthat goes on within them, and make out theballs of half-digested food and the smaller ani-mals or plants which they have more recentlyswallowed.
