This illustrated plan shows the Grand Temple of the Buddha at Lhasa, known as Jokhang - formerly Cho Cho-Khang. Considered by many the most important temple in Tibet. The architecture is a mix of Chinese, Indian, and Nepalese. Tradition says that it was built for two brides of the king Songsten Gampo in the seventh century This illustration appeared in: The Book of Ser Marco Polo" by Sir Henry Yule (1921).
