Bird reproductive organs, artwork. The male organs are at right and the female organs at left. All birds have a cloaca (bottom in both artworks), which is a combined intestinal, urinary and reproductive tract. The male has internal testes (oval, grey), with the larger one on the left. Sperm travels down tubes into the cloaca, to be deposited in the female's cloaca. As eggs leave the female's single ovary (pink) and travel along the oviduct, they can be fertilised by this sperm. The fertilised egg is then laid by the female and incubated until hatching. The kidneys (red) and ureters are also shown here.
